CBTU Statement on Canada’s Appointed Ambassador to the United States

Canada’s Building Trades Unions (CBTU) congratulate Canada’s newly-appointed Ambassador to the United States, Kirsten Hillman.

The CBTU values the relationship with the Federal Government, and has worked with Ambassador Hillman, in her previous roles, on various issues including the recent CUSMA trade negotiations. Continuing an open dialogue and collaborative approach on important issues to both Canada and the United States, including cross-border labour mobility for those in the construction industry to address the skills gap, remains a priority of the CBTU.

“Canada’s Building Trades Unions want to congratulate Ambassador Hillman on her new appointment. While she has been acting in this role for some time, she is now the first permanent female envoy to the United States,” said Robert Kucheran, Chairman, Canada’s Building Trades Unions. “This comes at a time when both of our countries are facing an unprecedented crisis, and it is not without recognizing that, we congratulate and offer our support to Ambassador Hillman in her new role.  We look forward to continuing  our strong working relationship, on behalf of building trades members across the country.”
